SmartCompany is a completely free news and information site for Australia’s entrepreneurs, small and medium business owners, and business managers.
The goal of the website is to keep their readers ahead of their competition. Smart Company’s editorial team have years of experience reporting for Australia’s best newspapers and magazines including BRW and The Australian Financial Review. Contributors include Australia’s top entrepreneurs, experts and advisers.
SmartCompany approached Valegro as they wanted to move away from their Microsoft Dot Net system and move to an open source solution with more flexibility and customisation options, while still being robust and reliable. After consulting with the internal stake holders and Valegro, a decision was made to shift to an open source solution, obtaining more flexibility for changes to the web site layout which was very complicated and slow in a Dot Net system.
After a full proposal of multiple services and options, Smart Company approved the path that has now been put in to place.

Valegro underwent a site analysis, and worked with Smart Company’s staff to successfully perform a full system migration using the open source Joomla Content Management System.
Recently SmartCompany was kind enough to officially recognise Valegro as their online technology partner, an achievement that would not have been possible without such a healthy working relationship and successful delivery methodology.
Using data tools, SQL scripts and Joomla components such as JoomSef, MyBlog and Community Builder the entire website was migrated, redesigned and implemented in a very short period of time.
SmartCompany staff still comment to us at both the speed at which such a task could be completed and the enormous sense of achievement experienced having being involved at various levels as the major changes took place.
Today, Valegro continues to work with SmartCompany on a regular basis with enhancements to their bespoke needs. Improvements take many forms from helping implement new modules and functionality, workflow and effective SEO channels and to writing custom solutions to manage the creative advertising endeavours on the SmartCompany website.
